ABOUT US
Family owned, estate grown and located in Padthaway

Today, Glendon Park is owned and operated by Glenda and Donald Brown’s daughter, Susanne (Sue) Brown and husband Michael Schreier. The couple live on the original family estate where they raised daughter Alexandra (Alex) and son Henry, surrounded by soaring gum trees and 140ha of vineyard planted atop an ancient inland seabed.
Padthaway’s name is derived from a local Aboriginal word, potawurutj, meaning good water. And good water is precisely why Glenda and Donald chose to settle in the Padthaway region. In conjunction with the CSIRO, Donald spent five years analysing soil and water quality around the nation to find the most suitable region for agriculture and viticulture. Padthaway’s regular and reliable rainfall, well-drained Terra Rossa soils — formed by the geological events of the Cainozoic Era — and its abundance of fresh underground water, made it the perfect choice.
The Brown family were the first to plant vines privately in the region and also lay claim to retaining the oldest Chardonnay vines in Padthaway. Since 1970, they have expanded their estate vineyard offering to include Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Shiraz, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec.
For Sue and Michael, Glendon Park represents the next chapter of a rich family legacy founded on hard work, dedication and connection to the land. A legacy they hope to continue for many years to come by creating exceptional estate-grown wines of rare power and elegance.

The region is also famous for Lobster and the World Heritage Naracoorte Caves.
